Topping the list of books I’ve seen recently that I’d absolutely love to have in my collection is Stephen Thrower’s Nightmare USA: The Untold Story of the Exploitation Independents (Fab Press), a 527 page extravaganza of indie horror, exploitation, sci-fi and sleaze films from 1970 through 1985.

This book- boasting interviews with writers, actors and directors as well as plentiful illustrations- chronicles such small-screen gems as Last House on Dead End Street, Let’s Scare Jessica to Death, Messiah of Evil, Death Bed: The Bed that Eats, and The Nail Gun Massacre to name only a few, and is riding the wave of a rekindled appreciation for classic American trash cinema as art.
